Festival of Trees

Spoke-N-Sport participated in the Festival of Trees again this year. We sponsored a tree with KELO AM.

Turkey Lurkey

In preparation of a Thankgiving meal 20 - 30 of us met for a quick ride around town. Even the best eaters have to train for what lies ahead on Thanksgiving Day. We rode about 15 miles thought the city and on the bike trail. We will be posting a Christmas Tree Light Ride soon!

Axel Merckx comes full circle to T Mobile

14 years after turning pro with Team Telekom Axel Merckx is starting his last season as a pro with T Mobile. Merckx had planned to finish his career with Phonak, until that team folded in the wake of one too many doping scandals. "The team concept and management's clean and hard line convinced me that it was the right team“, stresses Merckx, who will play a key role in the magenta team's re-building process. "I still believe I can make a positive sporting contribution and am willing to do the hard work.“ The Belgian is looking forward to the Spring Classics, but the Tour will still be his main focus. Such an experienced rider will be a great asset to the young T Mobile squad.

Kranked 6: Progression

The much-anticipated addition to the very successful Kranked series, PROGRESSION - Kranked 6 gives the world’s best mountain bikers a challenge: To create the most stunning and progressive mountain bike line and ride it. Imagine some of the top riders, Steve Peat, Nathan Rennie, Kirt Voreis, Jamie Goldman, Ryan Leech and Mike Kinrade, Steve Romaniuk, and Ben Boyco unleashed with no boundaries ... and all the support they need to execute their dream rides. It is about finding the ultimate trail - and pushing the boundaries to ride it. With Bjorn Enga behind the camera, each rider is captured in a spectacular and innovative way. This film is produced to the highest technical standards, with award-winning cinematography, an original sound track, and full surround sound. PROGRESSION is the story about making crazy visions mad reality.

T-Mobile and Giant for 2007

With the 2006 season in the books T Mobile is welcoming new team members and looking forward to the future. A post on their website yesterday proudly talks about their collaboration with Giant, “the technology leader in new bike frame manufacturing”. “Part of Giant’s winning formula is their close collaboration with the T-Mobile pro cyclists. As the only major brand that produces its bicycles from raw material to finished form, Giant designers and engineers are able to work directly with athletes to produce the most advanced technological developments in cycling” You can read the rest of the article here. I found it interesting that the team uses both the TCR Advanced and the TCR C frames, depending on rider preference and race conditions.

Giant Bicycles and the Ironman

Michellie Jones has added another win to a long and impressive career. After Michellie’s second place finish in Kona last year, Natasha Badmann was the favorite coming into the race. However, last year Michellie was recovering from a broken hip and this year she had two more marathons under her belt. She got off to a bit of a slow start in the swim, but came back to crush the competition in the bike leg, and found herself with enough of a lead to play it safe at the end of the marathon. Congratulations Michellie, on a very impressive victory!
