Sioux Falls Greenival

The Sioux Falls Greenival runs today from 10 am till 2 pm. We are there hosting the bike valet. The Greenival is an event for "Green" businesses to be showcased. Not just anyone can be there. You have to prove yourself as green. Spoke-N-Sport is getting more and more green as the time goes by. We now recycle all tires and tubes. We recycle all paper products and cardboard. We also recycle cans and bottles. We are even recycling bikes and bike parts through the Center of Hope. We are hoping to find someone that can take our scrap metal too. Know anyone?

Progress

There was a time when people would think of cyclists as an after thought. Cyclists had to adapt to the infrastructure that was already there. If you look at the above picture close enough you will see that the climate has changed. In the two circles you will see that there are two city workers adjusting the sensitivity of a signal sensor using a bike as the trigger mechanism. How AWESOME is that? You can read some more info on the MinusCar blog too.

Bike Friendly States

Give your self a High Five today if you did anything for cycling advocacy in South Dakota over the last year. SD moved from pretty close to the end of the line to the middle of the pack of Bike Leagues Bike Friendly State Rankings. We are also in the top 5 most improved states. Cycling is growing in Sioux Falls. If you ever have chance to sit for a while head over to one of your favorite coffee shops on Minnesota Ave. and count the cyclists that go by in a hour. You will be surprised.

Bikes for Ghana

It's great to hear that a company we use is giving back to the world. Ghana to be precise. Sticker Giant makes a lot of our stickers that we use. They are helping provide bikes for Ghana. You can help too. Visit them at their blog located HERE.
